A new task force, Altrincham Forward, has been established to spearhead the revitalisation of Altrincham. Our aim is to put the heart back into our town centre and restore Altrincham to its position as one of the top locations in the country.

Supported by Trafford Council, Altrincham Forward brings together senior business leaders and Altrincham community groups who are committed to a bright and successful future for our town.

Our specific aim is to make change happen and ultimately restore Altrincham's status as one of the country's prime towns for living, shopping, working and leisure. Our priority is to encourage a blend of shops ranging from small independents to larger high-end retailers, to promote attractive residential dwellings in the heart of the town, to improve the appearance of the town and make Altrincham a place renowned for excellent cafes, restaurants and bars. We will build on the cultural heritage and leisure opportunities and bring more events, facilities and activities to the town and we will encourage investment and business back in to Altrincham. Emerging over the coming months, this will form the basis for new, practical plans which will be driven by Altrincham Forward.

Altrincham Forward has been meeting over the past few months to provide a focus for Altrincham's people, organisations and businesses to channel their wealth of skills and knowledge into plans for short, medium and long-term improvements. There is a lot of work to be done – but some of the immediate issues facing the town are already being addressed: low cost parking is encouraging more visitors; physical improvements, such as completing the paving in the Stamford Quarter and investment into the Grafton Centre is now underway; the new hospital has been secured for Stamford New Road; and major investment into the Interchange has been agreed to start in Summer 2012.

Altrincham Forward is founded on the principle of empowering the people of Altrincham to revitalise Altrincham. Everyone can play a part in revitalising our town.
